The summer school will consist of three parts. The first is a series of lectures in the domain of cognitive science and, in particular, formal semantics, offered by prominent scholars in this domain. They will talk about what their research methods can contribute to the investigation of natural languages in general, and Lithuanian and the Baltic languages in particular. The second is a workshop during which both established authorities and young scholars will present their research on various aspects of the phonology, morphology, morphosyntax, syntax and semantics of Lithuanian and the Baltic languages, with a possibility of discussion on the theoretical issues raised in the papers presented at the workshop. Finally, a workshop on electronic and other resources available to researchers working on the history of Lithuanian and the Baltic languages will give the participants an overview of what has been achieved and what the main priorities for the near future should be, and an opportunity of discussing aims, tools, methods and priorities in the domain of electronic resources for diachronic research into the Baltic languages. The whole event will be a continuation of the tradition of the Salos summer schools of linguistics Academia Grammaticorum Salensis, which have been organized since 2004 and have acquired a solid reputation in the academic world.
The project is financed by the Research Council of Lithuania (Agreement Nr. P-LIP-18-84).
