Lithuanian Course for Third-Country Nationals

GENERAL INFORMATION

Don’t miss the opportunity to learn the state language free of charge and successfully integrate into Lithuania! Starting in September 2026, we are forming A1-level groups for beginners.
Places on the course are limited.

• Duration: 80 academic hours (September–December)
• Target audience: adults
• Language level: A1 (for total beginners)
• Learning materials: free of charge
• Attendance: mandatory

You will be able to participate in the free course offered under this project only once so we recommend assessing whether you need an A1, A2, B1 or B2 level certificate. (A2–B2 level courses at Vilnius University will start somewhat later; registration will be announced separately.)

At the end of the course, a final written and oral test will be held.

Timetable

Important! After completing the course, you must:

• register for the State Language Proficiency Examination administered by the National Agency for Education (NŠA);
• take the examination;
• provide the course organisers with a copy of the registration confirmation.

Vilnius University is one of the partners in the project “Lithuanian Language Training, Including Sociocultural Knowledge, for Third-Country Nationals”, implemented in 2026–2028 by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Security and Labour.

The project aims to provide third-country nationals throughout Lithuania with opportunities to learn Lithuanian free of charge and acquire the sociocultural knowledge necessary for successful integration into Lithuanian society.
