REGISTRATION FOR LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE COURSES STARTING IN SEPTEMBER IS OPEN

The Department of Lithuanian Studies offers three Lithuanian language online courses, the semester course, evening course, and free mover course starting in September 2023. Students can sign up by filling out the application form. 

LEVEL EXAMINATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE ON 9 JUNE 2023.

The examinations of Lithuanian language proficiency levels A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1 will take place on 9 June 2023. More information is available here.

The two & four-week summer course starts on 3 July 2023 and individuals can sign up until 19 June 2023. Detailed information on the two & four-week summer course is available here.

THE WINTER COURSE WILL TAKE PLACE ON-SITE

The two & four-week Lithuanian language winter course will start on 3 January 2023 and one can sign up for it until 20 December 2022. Classes will take place at the Faculty of Philology, Vilnius University. Detailed information on the two & four-week winter course is available here.

Students, professors, and researchers of foreign institutions of higher education as well as individuals of Lithuanian descent can submit their applications to receive a scholarship for the Lithuanian language and culture winter course in January 2023. On 29–30 September 2022, the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University, Department of Lithuanian Studies, Lithuanian Association of Applied Linguistics LITAKA and the Institute of the Lithuanian Language will hold the Sixth International Conference of Applied Linguistics ‘Languages and People: Problems and Solutions.'

THE COURSE WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE FACULTY OF PHILOLOGY

Vilnius University invites Ukrainian citizens who left Ukraine for Lithuania due to military action by the Russian Federation in Ukraine to submit their applications for the intensive Lithuanian language and culture course.

The new textbook "Sėkmės!" has been released which is aimed at adults of various age groups, professions, interests, and background who start learning Lithuanian,

This textbook is designed for exchange (Erasmus) students but it also perfectly suits for all non-native adult speakers who start learning Lithuanian. The authors of this publication are professors of the Department of Lithuanian Studies, Faculty of Philology, Vilnius University with extensive and versatile experience in teaching Lithuanian to non-native speakers.

E-recourses of the Faculty of Philology, Vilnius University has made the textbook 'Nė dienos be lietuvių kalbos' Book Three publicly available in the PDF and interactive versions. This texbook is the continuation of the same titled Book One for A2 and Book Two for B1-B2.

The Lithuanian language and culture online summer course is underway on 5 to 30 July. 42 students have joined the course from 19 countries, Belarus, Great Britain, Egypt, Estonia, India, Italy, USA, Canada, China, Latvia, Poland, France, Russia, Georgia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Hungary, Vietnam, and Germany. Students are mainly from Latvia, Poland, and Russia.

THE SUMMER COURSE WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE.

The two & four-week summer course will start on 5 July 2021 for which one can sign up until 30 June 2021. Classes will be held via Microsoft Teams. Detailed information on the two & four-week online summer courses is available here.

The online Lithuanian language & culture winter course is taking place on 4–29 January. 26 students have joined the course from 13 different countries, including Australia, Austria, Denmark, India, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, France, Russia, Finland, Hungary, and Denmark. 6 students will participate in the two-week studies (4–15 January) while 20 students will study for a month (4–29 January).

A new website has been launched this week which introduces a new short online Lithuanian language course.
