At the moment there are 25 teachers (including teachers from Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden) and around 100 students in Centre of Scandinavian Studies. The Centre for Scandinavian Studies has received international recognition for its activity.
The activity of the centre has been and is sponsored by DIKU (Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education), The Danish Ministry of Science and Ministry of Education of Iceland, EDUFI (Finnish National Agency for Education), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, The Swedish Institute, The Sigurður Nordal Institute and Nordic Council of Ministers.
The study programme of Scandinavian Philology has been offered in Vilnius University since 1990 and the Department of Scandinavian Philology was established in 1991. In 2006 the Department was restructured to the Centre for Scandinavian Studies.
