THE MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FINNIC LANGUAGES
24.–27.4.2017 

The course presents the geographical distribution of the Finnic languages, their historical spreading zones and typological main characteristics in a nutshell. The contemporary Finnish and Estonian languages outline two geographical core areas, whereas the distribution of other Finnic languages extends to a considerably larger area in space and time. The focus will be on the main typological characteristics of both the Finnic languages as a whole and some individual languages.
